ARC 510D Advanced Design Studio I: Urban
Laos Transit Center–El Pueblo Center Community Gateway
The culminating project for the studio is the design of a public community center and gateway that connects the Laos Transit Center and El Pueblo Center. Located on an existing SunTran Park & Ride lot, this interior location of the broader transportation and parks complex offers the opportunity to stitch together disjointed growth and agglomeration around the original neighborhood center as well as the challenge of catalyzing its revitalization. Students designed a mixed use addition that supports community use and access and implements a clear urban strategy to contribute to the city at large.
